Coolest Parents Ever!

So, it's been a month since I have posted anything. I do not plan on making this a habit, and in my defense I have not been home for a full week since June. We have been traveling a REDICULOUS amount! It's literally been nuts... we go away, come home, unload the car, go to speech and the doctors, pack and reload the car, and we are on our way again. Now after most of the madness is over I now have to find my house again! Stuff is everywhere and I have no desire to do anything! I am just down right beat! So, now that I have sufficiently whined... I will tell you why I have the greatest parents in the world. I know everyone things their's beat all... but by the time I'm finished you will officially be jealous. I promise!

My parents have EIGHT GRANDSONS. That's right... no pink! They raised three girls and now we have blessed them with all boys. My sisters are rebels and left the beloved east coast! Which obviously means six out of the eight boys live across the country. So my parents thought of a way to keep a close bond with all of their grandchildren. They created Camp Geedapapa.

Camp Geedapapa (the story) :
My mother goes by Geeda instead of Grandma... The oldest grandson started calling her that when he was young and it stuck. My father goes by Papa for the same reason. So that hopefully now explains the name Camp Geedapapa. They created a "summer camp" for their grandchildren (and yes, girls will be allowed to go if we ever have any!). My mom has her degree in early childhood develpment and runs a preschool program throughout the school year, which makes her a perfect candidate for this. Ontop of that there is my dad who is an arborist and challenge course designer/builder. My mom and dad are the greatest team ever. One of them gets an idea and my mom can plan out the details then my dad can build it. It's incredible!
My parents live next door to my grandmother and between the two properties there is about 8 acres of land. My parents have turned it into boy paradise. They have swing sets, ziplines, challenge courses, a canoe that swings from the trees, etc, etc. So each year every grandchild that is three years old and potty trained gets to go to camp. The duration of camp varies year to year, but generally runs 2-3 weeks. This is an over night camp with none of us "parents" allowed.
... Is this not the coolest thing ever? It is right!? Well... you can imagine my excitement when my oldest son "Mr. Cowboy" qualified for camp this year! He missed camp last year by two months (sept. birthday) and he wasn't fully potty trained! So this means I have THREE WEEKS with only one child!! Well.. only two now. but still! I am determined to get things accomplished and have wonderful posts while the craziness of my life has been cut in half. :)

Here are some pictures of Camp Geedapapa...

Breakfast in their camp shirts.

at a children's museum.

Going to church. All of the boys are in order of age. Look at the two youngest. This is alittle decieving because they are just about the same height... but look how tiny "Mr. Cowboy" is! Both of my boys are very petite. "Mr. Monkey's" even worse!
Playing in the rain. "Boo boo's" occur frequently at camp!

Cooking breakfast with Papa. Eggstravaganza!!

Learning to work and serve! (I thought that this was the cutest picture ever! Props to my mom for takin' a good one!)

So that is Camp Geedapapa in a very small nutshell.
Thanks to the greatest/craziest parents in the world!! I love you both!

  1. That is really, really cool Hillary. Not only because of the clearly awesome outdoor activities and all of the great boyish experiences, but they get to spend lots of quality time with their cousins. That's just invaluable!
